Welcome...

The Kollurar Kulam

Kammavar Naidu is  a sub-caste of Hindu Religion which is considered to be one of the most  influential communities  who  introduced Modern Techniques in fields like Agriculture, Education, Etc. in their region. There are many Branches or Kulams in Kammavar Naidu

KOLLURAR KULAM DESATLA GOTHRAM  (also known as KOLRAR, KOLLURU, KOLLURI) is one among them. There are approximately 100 families belonging to Kollurar Kulam. The forefathers of Kamma Kula people who were proudly claimed "Laksha Kula Kammavar"  partionised the worship of Kula Deities and  the Kollurar Kulam too have a Sacred temple constructed for worshipping their Kula Deivam RENUKA KONDAMAAL at Sembarampatti.

Geographical Location :

Earlier, A temple for the Kuladeivam was in this place. But it was destroyed by an accidental fire. The   sacred belongings of  the Kuladeivam which were retrieved after the fire was  kept in an earthen pot in the ancestral house of (Late) Mr.Jayabal Naidu S/o. (Late) Sh.S.P. Balu Naidu for many years. The family used to perform the poojas and other procedures to the pot. But no temple was there for the Kuladeivam and the pooja was conducted to a group of stones kept under a tree. One day, The Godess came in the dream of a local villager and asked him to tell Mr.S.P. Balu Naidu to build a temple for her. After this message, the idea for construction of the temple was designed and developed and a committee was formed which consisted of a dedicated group of KOLLURARs  like (Late)Mr.Narayanasamy Naidu  - Palani (Head), (Late) Mr.Jayabal Naidu - Sembaraipatti,   (Late) Mr.Ananthan - GKNM Hospital, Coimbatore, Mr.Balasundaram - SBI  Idigarai,  and others.

The Temple was constructed after great efforts and pains taken by the committee in the land donated by (Late)Sh.S.P.Balu Naidu & his family. The committee members met other Kollurars and their Andabiddals to collect the required amount for the temple construction. The work was started on 25/5/1989 which  took around 1 year to complete the construction and the Kumbabishekam was performed on  28/5/1990 which lasted  for 3 days. It was attended by a huge gathering of people from all over. They were provided all the required food, Shelter, Etc. by the Temple Committee. The Sacred Pot and statue of the Kula Deivam - Goddess RENUKA KONDAMAAL are now kept in the Sacred Room (Karuvarai) in a box. The contents are taken from the box in a grand ceremony at almost 12.AM on 14th January, Pongal every year. Pongal for the Kula Deivam will be kept later on the same day at aroung 9 AM. Meeting will be held after the Pongal which will be attended by all the Kollurars and discussion will be done on necessary issues after which, decisions will be taken by them. The pooja will be done in a very grand manner at around 1 PM and the contents will be kept back in the box inside the Karuvarai. Lunch will be prepared & provided to all the people present  & thus Pongal is celebrated in a grand manner every year. The poojas are performed by the appointed Poosari as per the traditional rituals on all the other days.

A Kalyana Mandapan was built by  (Late) Mr.Narayanasamy Naidu - Palani for the welfare of the Kollurars & where they are encouraged to conduct rituals such as Marriage, Ear Piercing, Mundan, etc. The Mandapam is provided continuous Water & Power supply & can accommodate a small gathering.

Latest developments (as on June 2013) : The present temple committee has decided to build a Mandapam to be used for Functions, etc. The mandapam will be constructed in the place of the old school building adjacent to the temple after removing the old building. The committee is collecting funds from the Kollurars & Aandabiddals to complete the Mandapam.  An old tank which was in a very neglected state near the temple was removed.
